"I started fishing Lake Cumberland in 1983.
At that time my boat was docked on Lake Michigan and a good friend and
myself were doing a little winter fishing. We put in at Beaver Creek dock
and when we got to the main part of the lake, the stripers were feeding on the surface.
We could see fish on the surface for several hundred yards each way. The first one we
caught was 15 pounds; it fought as hard as any fish I have ever boated. We boated fish
from 8 to 23 pounds all afternoon. When we got back to the dock, two of the reels I had
with me were broken to the point of no repair. After that I moved my boat to Beaver Creek
and have been there ever since. My biggest fish is a 50 pounder and I regularly catch 20
to 35 pounders yearly. My boat is 26' with full cover, GPS and heat. Family trips are
my best trips overall. (don't worry mom, I take care of the bait!)
hope to see you soon".
